36 Radon and Acid RainAcid rain and Radon have an effect on the environment but also can effect a persons quality of life. The awareness of today’s society has increased over the recent years with the overwhelming knowledge through the media and science classes in college, high school and science labs across the globe which have al taught us that we need to be aware of the atmospheric issues that surround us and every day inside and outside alike.
A serious problem that have a huge impact on the North American countries of the U.S. And Canada is the growing sign of acid rain spreading across the continent. The rivers, lakes and woodlands are the most common areas known to be effected the most by Acid rain due to the fact that plants and animals that live in these different ecosystems suffer the brunt of the effects of acid rain because of the exposure to the everyday elements.
Now what exactly is acid rain? How does it effect the animals and forests that surround us? Acid rain is rain that has a pH level that is low enough to be acidic causing damage to plants, animals and other types of built infrastructure. ‘Acid rain is caused by sulfur dioxide and nitrogen oxide which then react with water molecules that then produce acids'(Wikipedia). The danger that acid rain can cause are pretty harmful to not only plants, animals, and infrastructure but can effect the soil quality and can ultimately destroy a field of crops, plants around your house, and yes even your grass, If your anything like me you love your grass and the way that yard that you work so hard to look good.
